PEC Conference 2027

Our third annual conference will take place on 23rd February in Oxford. Join us to discuss modern slavery as a human rights challenge: how can we work together to strengthen the laws and policies designed to prevent and protect people?

Modern slavery is a human rights challenge, but efforts to prevent exploitation and protect people are often shaped by different policy areas, sectors and systems. Bringing these perspectives together can help us better understand both the challenges and the opportunities for change.

At this year's conference, we will bring together the worlds of policy, academia, lived experience, civil society, and practice within the anti-slavery and human rights sectors.

We'll explore what we can learn from each other as we consider the importance of lived experience expertise in shaping responses to human rights harms, how to inform the UK debate on human rights, and the realities of how modern slavery and other human rights areas overlap with each other (including child criminal exploitation, migration, labour rights, and violence against women and girls).

Together, we will think about how greater collaboration across these fields can strengthen efforts to prevent exploitation and protect human rights.

The conference agenda is to be confirmed, but will include significant speakers with key roles in the anti-slavery and human rights sectors, as well as topical discussions and opportunities to network and discuss.
